If you wouldn’t allow a foot doctor to operate on your brain, then why would you go to a lay person to operate on your money? Your money in this case being a cash producing asset – or to be more specific a painting by William Joseph Verdult.
A couple of weeks ago we received this email from someone who had invested in a Verdult painting. They certainly received some misguided information. This is what they said, “I took the painting to two local art galleries where professional appraisers with degrees in art appraising then appraised the piece. They both appraised the piece and said it was not worth anything, it was just a decorative piece.”
We responded by saying, ”We are not familiar with an independent third party qualified appraiser (whether they have a degree or not) rendering an opinion on a listed artist work without providing written documentation of their opinion and providing documents which list the organization they belong to that makes them qualified to render such opinion.”
To demonstrate a point to the person we placed a challenge before them. This is what we said, “You can be assured that the piece that your "Qualified and Degreed Appraisers" claim is a mere decorative piece - is far from the case. In fact, legitimate pieces of Verdult artwork as well as the art market in general "cash" prices continue to rise. Though we certainly cannot say the exact price, we are extremely confident that a "Qualified and Licensed" third party independent appraiser who is sanctioned by the Court System, the Law Profession and the Internal Revenue Service, will appraise the market value of the artwork in your possession for far more than what you have acquired it for.
Based on this fact alone - we will be more than happy to pay for a qualified Government Sanctioned and IRS Registered "Third party Independent Appraiser" to appraise the artwork." If the artwork's "market value" does not appraise for several thousand dollars; and its value is what your "so called appraisers claim” that is "it was not worth anything, it was just a decorative piece", we’ll not only pay for the appraisal, we will buy the art from you.
Though the results are not in until we receive the official report from the appraiser one point stands out.
If you wouldn’t go to a foot doctor to operate on your brain, why would you consult a novice with valuable assets?
We are waiting on the formal report from the appraiser. The appraiser’s findings will be reported here.
